If you are having trouble logging into Blackboard, you will need to log into SOLAR
to verify your Net ID username & set your Net ID Security Question and Password.

If you are a student and continue to have a problem logging into Blackboard, you will need to bring photo ID to either the Melville Library SINC Site Room S1460 or the Union SINC Site Room 080 and speak to a Blackboard Administrator Monday - Friday from 9 am - 5 pm.

Lotus Notes

Students:
You need to visit the SINC Site in the Main Library (S1460) with your Student ID card and a Consultant will assist you.

Faculty/Staff :
If you can cannot access your Lotus Notes account
(password is not working).
You can contact the Accounts Office @ (631) 632-8011 from your office phone.

Net ID


To find out what your NetID is or if you forgot your NetID Password change log into the SOLAR system.  Look for the heading block in the right side middle of the home page.  Under the heading are three choices:

NetID Information 

My NetID: Shows you your NetID
Set Your NetID Password: Allows you to set your NetID Password
Test Your NetID Password: Test authentication using NetID and NetID Password

All currently registered students at Stony Brook can reset their SOLAR password in person at an accounts terminal in the following SINC Sites:

  • Main Library SINC Site, located at Frank Melville Jr.,
    Memorial Library, Room S-1460
  • Student Union SINC Site, Room 080 (basement)
  • Computing Center, Dispatch Room 138
  • Health Science Center Computer Room, HSC library 3rd floor

Sparky Email

If you forget your Sparky (Stony Brook) email password, you must come to one of the following SINC Sites to reset your password:

  • Main Library SINC Site, located at Frank Melville Jr., Memorial Library,
    Room S-1460
  • Student Union SINC Site, Room 080 (basement)
  • Computing Center, Dispatch Room 138
  • Health Science Center Computer Room, HSC library 3rd floor

  • It will take 1 to 2 hours before you can sign in to your account.

  • If you log in directly to Sparky, instead of Webmail, your password will be pre-expired and you will have to change it.

  • Your password expires every four months. You will receive a reminder email. You can change your password at any time.

    IMPORTANT: To help you remember your password, don't save it on your machine. Type it each time. It will also prevent unauthorized access to your account.
