The idea is to bring clothes that can get permanently dirty or ruined.  This is not to say that they WILL be ruined, but there's always that chance (painting, for example).  The following list offers suggestions of what to bring.
Keep in mind that the weather in New Orleans is highly unpredictable and is subject to change at any moment.

ALLOWANCE: 1 carry-on/1 duffel or suitcase

NECESSITIES
·        jeans and shorts/sweats - jeans are better for worksite
·        t-shirts and long sleeve shirts
·        hooded sweatshirt(s)
·        collared shirt/nice outfit for going out
·        lots of socks (2/day)
·        going out shoes
·        sunglasses
·        sturdy sneakers or work boots. You're required to wear sneakers or boots on the site; you will not be allowed to work in sandals or flimsy sneakers.  BRING AT LEAST TWO PAIRS - when it rains, you're not going to want to put your feet back into those soggy shoes.
·        underwear
·        pajamas
·        raingear (raincoat or poncho - an umbrella won't help you while you're on the site)
·        sunscreen/sunblock
·        Hat/bandana
·        sleeping bag and pillow/air mattress (large garbage bag) - $16/target
·        sheet/blanket
·        towel
·        facecloth
·        flip-flops for shower
·        Toiletries: soap, toothbrush/toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, comb, hair product, etc.
·        eyeglasses/contacts/solution
·        tissues
·        hair ties (to pull hair back on worksites-important)
·        flashlight
·        insect repellent
·        pain relievers/medication you are taking/antacids
·        cash - $150
·        Cell phone charger (though there won't be 47 outlets, so use Cell Phone Sparingly)
·        water bottle (marked with your name)
OTHER SUGGESTIONS (not required):
·        work gloves (if you have, marked with your name)
·        a tool belt (if you have one, no need to go buy one if you don't)
·        digital camera/video camera
