You may wish to give your students an introduction to these two major historical events in American History. A great way to do this is to have the students role-play how the colonists felt as they were being violated by their mother country-Great Britain. Have them imagine how they would feel if they were placed in this situation. You might wish to create a hypothetical situation such as they were going to have to pay a quarter every time they used a tissue in school. How would they feel? Why would it be ridiculous to charge for tissues? Have your students think of ways to protest.
To review the history of these events, have the students find the Social Studies Homepage and read the directions. They will read an online summary of each event and then they are asked to answer six comprehension questions.
